About

I'm Susan, and welcome to my homemaking journey. I'm a Messie at heart, only learning to keep my home neat and clean in the past few years - and still not hugely successful at it at times. My goal for this blog is to provide you with encouragement and practical help in your own homemaking. If you struggle with balancing the responsibilities of being a wife, mother, homemaker, church member, homeschooler, crafter, home business owner . . . you're not alone!

The "system" that has helped me the most is FlyLady, so you'll see lots of references to her. I was a mess before finding FlyLady, but she has helped me learn the magic of 15 minutes. Now, most days find me (and my husband) enjoying a home that's within 15 minutes or so of being company-ready. I also enjoy learning about time management and scheduling. I cook a lot, so you'll see recipes from time to time - although I'm not a food blogger, so don't expect beautiful pictures of the process. Just the recipes, usually. I also participate in Menu Plan Monday at I'm An Organizing Junkie to give you some real-life meal ideas.

A little about me . . . I'm the 40-something wife to Wes and mom to 3 amazing young adults. I'm unashamed to be called a Christian, and I strive to make God's Word a practical part of my everyday life. Wes pastors an independent Baptist church in Kelowna, BC, Canada. We're originally from the Deep South - I have the accent to prove it - but we've lived in Canada for seven years. We've applied for permanent residence and hope to live here for the rest of our lives, Lord willing. I also write at our family blog, ByGrace.
