Country Kitchen II
Well, it's still Sunday here, anyway, even if it's past midnight on the east coast! ;) This was a busy week and I stayed busy till Thursday. Then I hit a brick wall. I'm adjusting to a new medicine. A little over a week ago, I increased the dosage and was doing fine . . . until Thursday. Until this morning, I had felt sick since Thursday. Today I've been better, but I've also eaten better - which goes a long way with this medication. With a settled tummy, my motivation has returned and I hope to keep up the energy this week.
I did get some work done in the kitchen. I think I mentioned in my last post that I was cleaning the oven. So my kitchen work last week was to clean the cabinet fronts, the backsplash, and the counters; the entire stove, including the oven (yay!); and the small appliances and canisters. I threw the round carousel I keep utensils in into the dishwasher one day too. So the kitchen looks pretty good, even though I didn't get everything on my list done.
This week is the main bathroom and one other room; for me that's the upstairs landing and hallway.
I've been reading a book recommended by Debbie from Homemaking Dreams. She has been reading Don Aslett's How to Have a 48-Hour Day and talking about it on her blog. I ordered it from my library and have been really enjoying it. The gist of it is . . . work. Stay busy. No amount of thinking and talking about getting things done will get things done. It's very motivating. If you can find it somewhere, it's a good, helpful read. I will never have the energy Mr. Aslett has, but his energy motivates me. Thanks, Debbie, for introducing me to it!

Hi Susan! If you get a chance, check out some of the other books by Don Aslett as well. He has several really good books - on cleaning (making your cleaning more effecient), and on getting rid of clutter.
My parents bought them when I was a teenager, and I enjoyed reading them, partly because they are so well illustrated. :) I think they have really helped me to keep a handle on clutter as an adult (but I still have clutter problems in my sewing room! Maybe I should read his books again! :P ) Oh, and I'm not saying you have a clutter problem. :) Just that the books are interesting!
Hi Tammy! I have the book "Is There Life After Housework?" I've read it once, and now I want to read it again. The time management book made me want to go back and review the other one!
And the clutter? You have no idea! LOL I'm a big clutterer!
I've seen a Don Aslett video before and he is FUNNY!
Thanks for the link. (o:
Thanks Susan! That book has made a real impression on me. I keep thinking "do it now" "work ahead". I've decided that my body wants to be lazy and I have to keep fighting that!
